Investigators remove Nancy Guthrie’s back-door floodlight in search for new evidence as authorities continue their efforts to locate the missing 84-year-old from the Catalina Foothills area north of Tucson.

Key Evidence Collected From the Property

Officials recently removed a damaged floodlight from the rear entrance of Nancy Guthrie’s home while thoroughly examining the property for clues. Video footage obtained by Fox News showed multiple outdoor lights around the residence, including several in the backyard. One of those fixtures appeared broken, while two others were previously seen hanging loosely by exposed wiring.

The decision to seize the light comes as investigators focus on any detail that could help reconstruct the events surrounding Guthrie’s disappearance.

Floodlight Mentioned in Ransom Communication

On Feb. 5, an FBI Phoenix special agent confirmed that a message believed to be linked to the case referenced specific items, including an Apple Watch and a floodlight. While officials acknowledged the mention, they declined to elaborate, stressing the importance of protecting sensitive information as the investigation progresses.

Additional Items Seized for Analysis

Late Friday, authorities also took custody of a blue Subaru SUV believed to belong to Guthrie, along with a wired camera from the roof of her home. The exact reason these items were collected has not been publicly disclosed.

In a Feb. 7 statement, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said the case remains active and ongoing, noting that multiple pieces of evidence are currently under review. Officials added that collecting surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses is a routine part of the investigative process.

Search Expands Beyond the Neighborhood

The update follows reports that law enforcement is tracking a vehicle that may be connected to the disappearance. A spokesperson for Circle K confirmed that investigators contacted a store on Oracle Road after receiving a tip about a vehicle of interest. Store management provided access to its surveillance recordings to assist the inquiry.

Timeline of Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of television journalist Savannah Guthrie, was reported missing on Sunday, Feb. 1, after she failed to attend her usual church service. She was last seen the night before, around 9:45 p.m., following a family dinner.

Her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, was the last known person to see her, having dropped her off at her residence.

By Monday, authorities declared the home a crime scene. Investigators believe Guthrie may have been taken from the residence against her will, possibly while she was asleep.

Investigation Ongoing

Law enforcement continues to follow leads and analyze collected evidence as the search for answers continues. Officials have urged the public to remain patient as they work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the case.
