Joff Bush of ‘Bluey’ Unveils Festive Christmas Playlist to Mark ‘Verandah Santa’ EP Release, and it’s turning the holiday season into a joyful celebration for fans of the beloved animated series.

This year truly feels like a Bluey Christmas, thanks to the release of Verandah Santa, the first-ever original Bluey Christmas EP. Created by the show’s longtime composer Joff Bush, the festive project brings a fresh holiday spin to the world of the lovable blue heeler and her family. One highlight of the EP is a cheerful reimagining of the show’s iconic theme song, now infused with Christmas spirit.

Bush shared that the team had an incredible time expanding the original extended theme, blending in playful elements from other familiar tracks such as “Instrument Parade,” while also weaving in subtle nods to classic carols like “Jingle Bells” and “Joy to the World.” The result is a fun, percussion-filled arrangement that feels both nostalgic and unmistakably festive.

The four-track EP doesn’t stop there. It also includes “Let’s Play Verandah Santa,” a song Bush describes as a perfect reflection of an Australian-style Christmas. Built using musical score from the original episode, the track is designed to transport listeners straight back into Bluey’s world, making them feel like they’re celebrating alongside the Heeler family.

Another standout is “Verandah Santa,” a clever twist inspired by Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, giving a classical touch a uniquely Bluey makeover. The EP wraps up with “I Don’t Have a Chimney,” featuring Emma Dean. Bush revealed that the lyrics were written from the perspective of Emma’s Santa-loving children, leading to plenty of laughter and joy during the writing and recording process.

While Bluey music is clearly at the heart of the season, Bush’s holiday spirit goes even further. To celebrate both the festive period and the release of Verandah Santa, he has also shared his personal Christmas playlist. The selection spans traditional carols, offbeat holiday tracks, well-loved classics, and even an unexpected dash of Bob Dylan.

“These are the songs that have that special magic,” Bush explains—proving that when it comes to Christmas, a little creativity and heart can make the season truly unforgettable.
