Born in Washington, D.C. and raised throughout D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, his music reflects the attitude, hustle, and life lessons that come from growing up in one of hip-hop’s most unique regions. Every record carries pieces of those experiences, creating a style that’s authentic instead of following trends.
Petey’s journey into music started in high school after his longtime mentor and big brother figure, Michael Harry, talked about launching a record label. From there, he and his cousin Trust Lo began performing paid shows, turning what started as a dream into something real. Since then, he’s continued building his catalog while staying true to his own lane.
Fans often describe his music as “rider music”—laid-back hip-hop with heavy production that’s equally suited for late-night drives or everyday life. Rather than chasing whatever is popular, Petey focuses on making records people can connect with on a personal level.
His upcoming project, The Greenhouse, represents a new chapter. Unlike much of his previous work, the album is primarily a solo effort, giving him complete creative control over the direction and message. The project will be released through Feed A Million / Be About The People Records, with distribution through Kamapro and Sony’s The Orchard, while also featuring production from CashMoneyAP, OK Peter, Stantoni, Bass Heds, MJ Ultra, and others.
Life hasn’t always been easy. After a major legal setback in 2008 involving gun and drug-related charges in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Petey was forced to reevaluate his path. The experience ultimately strengthened his work ethic and reinforced his commitment to creating opportunities through music instead of letting obstacles define him.
Inspired by legends like Marvin Gaye, The Notorious B.I.G., Wu-Tang Clan, and Nas, Petey blends storytelling, soul, and authenticity into every release. His music frequently touches on relationships, faith, ambition, and enjoying life while reminding listeners that everyone’s story has value. As he continues releasing new music, his goal remains simple: connect with longtime supporters while earning new fans one record at a time.
