Mary Cosby’s Son, Robert Jr., Shares First Social Media Post After His Release From Jail, signaling a fresh start following a difficult period for the family of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star.
Robert Jr. Breaks His Silence
Robert Cosby Jr., the son of reality TV personality Mary Cosby, has spoken publicly for the first time since his release from a Utah detention facility. His attorney, Clayton Simms, confirmed that Robert was released from Salt Lake County Metro Jail on February 3 after serving two months in custody.
According to court records, Robert’s release comes with strict conditions. He must complete 36 months of probation and perform 75 hours of community service as part of his sentencing.
Simms shared that Robert feels genuine remorse for his past actions and recognizes that his previous decisions reflected poor judgment. The attorney explained that Robert’s behavior stemmed in part from emotional struggles following a painful separation from his wife, which he found difficult to handle.
Focus on Recovery and Personal Growth
As part of his release requirements, Robert will undergo mental health and anger management evaluations. He has also committed to therapy, taking accountability for his actions, and working toward stable employment.
His attorney emphasized that Robert is determined to move forward in a healthier direction, noting that personal mistakes can often become powerful learning experiences. The goal now, Simms said, is long-term stability and positive change.
Robert had previously spoken on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City about his past struggles with substance use, making his recovery efforts a key part of his ongoing journey.
Legal Issues and Divorce Proceedings
In November 2025, Robert pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including assault, trespassing, and violating a protective order. The charges were connected to several incidents involving his estranged wife, Alexiana Arian Smokoff, and her father.
At the time, the court denied his request for early release and ordered him to remain in custody until his February sentencing. A permanent no-contact order was also issued in favor of Alexiana.
That same month, Alexiana filed for divorce in Salt Lake County. The court granted a default divorce earlier this year, with conditions requiring Robert to avoid any contact, harassment, or visits to her residence. He was also ordered to cover her legal expenses related to the case.

Mary Cosby Speaks Out as a Mother
Mary Cosby addressed her son’s situation during the January reunion of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Speaking candidly with host Andy Cohen, she shared that while the situation was difficult, she believed the time in custody could help her son reset.
Mary explained that she stayed in regular contact with Robert through daily phone calls but chose not to visit him in jail. She described offering him encouragement and spiritual guidance, hoping the experience would lead to meaningful personal growth.
Looking Ahead
With his release now behind him and a structured path forward, Robert appears focused on rebuilding his life. His first public message after leaving jail reflects a turning point — one centered on accountability, healing, and a commitment to making better choices moving forward.
