Nick Cannon Says Having Five Daughters Made Him Rethink His Player Image, and he’s not shying away from talking about it.
Most parents hope their kids will inherit their best qualities while still carving their own paths. But for Nick Cannon, fatherhood has meant taking a hard look at his past choices.
Earlier this week, on his Nick Cannon @ Night podcast, the Masked Singer host admitted he couldn’t even count how many women he has been with — “I lost count a long time ago,” he confessed. But in a follow-up conversation with Extra, the 44-year-old struck a much more reflective tone.
Promoting his late-night relationship advice call-in show, Cannon explained that age, maturity, and fatherhood have reshaped the way he views his life. “When you have five daughters, you’re like, ‘All right, I gotta at least want to be able to be true and honest,’” he shared. His daughters include Moroccan and Monroe (with ex-wife Mariah Carey), Powerful Queen (with Brittany Bell), Onyx Ice Cole (with LaNisha Cole), Beautiful Zeppelin (with Abby De La Rosa), and Halo Marie (with Alyssa Scott).
Cannon admitted he doesn’t want his daughters to follow in the footsteps of his old lifestyle. “I can’t live the same life I’ve always been living and attempt to right my wrongs. Hopefully, my daughters learn from my mistakes and not date people like their dad,” he said with a touch of self-deprecation.
The entertainer, who recently added hosting Lego Masters Jr. to his long list of gigs, also explained that being transparent comes naturally to him. “I’ve always been an open book,” he said, adding that sharing personal stories on his show feels natural.
And when it comes to offering opinions, Cannon isn’t afraid to go bold. One of his recent predictions? “Everybody’s about to start dating robots. Between AI and the technology of making things, we are definitely in the Total Recall, Terminator era. People are just sick of humans, and they’re gonna design the love they want.”
