Omari Alltimer looks back on his time in Los Angeles with a different perspective on his new EP, Screwdriver Sunset. Produced by Professor Payne, the five-track project reflects on the seven years Alltimer spent in LA, bringing together memories, personal changes, and the experiences that shaped him along the way. Instead of turning that period into a simple story of highs and lows, the EP sits somewhere in the middle, capturing the feeling of finally being able to look back and appreciate the full picture.
Sonically, Screwdriver Sunset carries a warm, soulful atmosphere that gives the project plenty of room to breathe. The title track, “screwdriver sunsets,” introduces that reflective mood, while “porcupine” takes things into hazier territory. “solidation” continues with a more thoughtful feel, built around mellow instrumentation and Alltimer’s laid-back delivery, before “greenleaf” brings a little more brightness and movement. Closing track “pins & needles” returns to the EP’s nostalgic side, leaving the project on a calm, reflective note. Professor Payne’s production ties the different moods together without making the five tracks feel too similar.
Beyond the music, Screwdriver Sunset represents a shift in how Alltimer sees himself. When he moved to LA in October 2019, he wanted the world to know him as Ois4 Omari. Seven years of relationships, setbacks, good memories, and everyday life eventually led him back to his own identity. “I wanted the world to know me as Ois4 Omari,” Alltimer explains. “Living in LA these last 7 years allowed me to remember who I really am, Omari AllTimer.” The EP turns that realization into something tangible—a snapshot of a chapter that changed him and a reminder of what he found on the other side of it.
